BANGOR — Lauren Bodine made 4 of 7 of her 3-pointers and finished with 15 points Saturday to lead the University of Maine to a 72-58 victory against Towson in a women’s basketball game at the Cross Insurance Center.

Liz Wood added her third double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Black Bears (6-5).

Wood, Mikaela Gustafsson and Bodine finished with five assists apiece for the Black Bears.

Maine took the lead for good with a 15-4 run that started with 11 minutes left in the half against Towson (4-7).

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 93, VAUGHN 15: Danielle McCusker scored 17 points and had seven steals as the Seawolves (9-4) cruised at New York.

Nyalieb Deng added 14 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for the Seawolves, who led 53-6 at halftime.

VAUGHN 90, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 86: Jeffrey Noel scored 20 points to pace the Warriors past the Seawolves (12-3) in overtime at New York

Tong Akot finished with 18 points and 17 rebounds for SMCC, and Jose Nouchanthavong added 19 points, five assists, five rebounds and four steals.

PROVIDENCE 94, MAINE 70: Kadeem Batts and Bryce Cotton each scored 22 points as Providence (10-2) rolled past visiting Maine (1-9).

A fifth-year senior, Batts notched the 1,000th point of his college career on a dunk in the first half. He joins Cotton and junior LaDontae Henton as current members of Providence’s 1,000-point club.

Zarko Valjarevic led Maine with 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point territory while Xavier Pollard added 15 points and five rebounds.

The Friars had five players in double figures. Tyler Harris finished with 18 points and six rebounds, while Henton and Josh Fortune each scored 10.

The Friars took control midway through the first half behind a 23-7 run that featured Cotton connecting from long range and Batts asserting his will down low. Cotton hit five 3s.

Providence has won 33 straight home games against nonconference opponents.
