BRUNSWICK

The Mid-coast region athletic teams will once again be busy over the holidays with regular-season matchups and some holiday tournaments sprinkled in the calendars.

Brunswick

The basketball teams will be busy with games on Friday (boys at Brewer, girls home) and Jan. 2 (boys home Edward Little, girls away).

The boys ice hockey team is back at the Waterville Holiday Tournament on Friday (Scarborough, 11 a.m.) and Saturday (Winslow, 11 a.m.), at Sukee Area in Winslow.

The girls are hosting an eight-team Lady Dragons Tournament.

Today’s Group A schedule has Brunswick/Cape Elizabeth at 9 a.m., followed by Gorham/Winslow at 10:15 a.m., Cape/Gorham at 11:30 a.m. and Winslow/Brunswick at 12:30 p.m.

The Group B schedule has Mt. Ararat/MGIHA at 2 p.m., Falmouth/MCSA at 3:15 p.m., MGIHA/Falmouth at 4:30 p.m. and MCSA/Mt. Ararat at 5:45 p.m.

On Friday, look for Mt. Ararat/Falmouth at 9 a.m., MGIHA/MCSA at 10:15 a.m., Brunswick/Gorham at 11:30 a.m., Cape/Winslow at 12:45 p.m., and the championship game at 2 p.m.

The swim team is off to the Morse Invitational on Friday (4 p.m.) at the Bath Area Family YMCA.

The track team will be busy with home meets on Friday (10 a.m.), Monday (10 a.m.) and Jan. 4 (10 a.m.).

Mt. Ararat

Like the Dragons, the Eagles have no holiday tournaments planned, but have a KVAC encounter with Edward Little (boys away 7 p.m., girls home, 2:30 p.m.) on Friday and take on Skowhegan Jan. 4 (boys home, 7 p.m.; girls away, 7 p.m.).

The indoor track team is at Belfast on Monday and goes to Brunswick (Bowdoin College’s Farley Field House) on Jan. 4.

The boys ice hockey team hosts Cony on Friday (6:15 p.m.) in make-up action and visits Cony on Jan. 4 in a regular-season tilt (5:30 p.m.)

The girls will be skating at Edward Little/Leavitt on Jan. 4 (4 p.m.), while swimming hosts Morse on Jan. 3 (5:30 p.m.).

Wrestling is at the Noble Tournament on Friday and Saturday and will visit Erskine Academy on Jan. 4 (10 a.m.).

Nordic skiing kicks off its schedule Jan. 4 at the Telstar Relays (11 a.m.), while the tracksters are at Belfast on Monday.

The basketball teams head to Waterville on Friday (girls at 5 p.m., boys to follow) and host Camden Hills on Monday (girls 5 p.m., boys to follow). On Jan. 3 the boys host Maranacook (7 p.m.), while the girls head to Readfield for a 6:30 p.m. encounter.

The wrestling team is at the Mid-State Tournament at Mt. View on Saturday (9:45 a.m.,) and hosts Cony, Lincoln Academy and Winslow on Jan. 4.

The swim teams hosts the Morse Invitational on Friday (Bangor, MDI, Cheverus, Brunswick, Windham) with a regular-meet format, and the Shipbuilders visit Mt. Ararat on Jan. 3 (5:30 p.m.).

Freeport

The boys host the Freeport Holiday Challenge on Saturday (10 a.m., to 3 p.m.) with Lake Region, Lisbon and Oak Hill also competing. The schedule had Lisbon vs. Freeport, 10 a.m.; Oak Hill vs. Lake Region, 11:45 a.m.; Lisbon vs. Lake Region, 1:45 p.m.; Oak Hill vs. Freeport, 3:30 p.m.

Following that the Falcons are scheduled to visit Kennebunk on Jan. 3 (7 p.m.).

The girls hoopsters visit Wells on Monday (5:30 p.m.) and host Kennebunk on Jan. 3 (6:30 p.m.).

The track team has a Western Maine Conference meet set for Jan. 3 at USM (6:30 p.m.).

The Nordic skiers are also slotted to compete in the Telstar Relays (11 a.m.) Jan. 4., while the Alpiners are off until Jan. 6 with a WMC meet at Shawnee Peak (4:45 p.m.).

Lisbon

The girls basketball team was scheduled to compete in a holiday tournament at Central Maine Community College, but that no longer is the case.

In regular-season action, the girls are off until Jan. 2 with a home date with Spruce Mountain (7 p.m.).

The boys are in the Freeport Tournament (see above) and will be off until Jan. 3 (home, 7 p.m.).

Mark Stevens’ wrestlers will also be competing in the Noble Tournament Friday and Saturday, and then will wrestling in the Sanford Tournament on Jan. 3-4.

Wiscasset

Boys basketball is set to compete in the Biddeford Holiday Tournament today and Friday.

The Wolverines open at 4:30 p.m. today versus Biddeford. If they win, they play at 7:30 p.m. versus Wells. If they lose, they play at 3 p.m. on the Friday against the loser of Kennebunk/Somersworth, N.H.

If they win again, they play at 6 p.m.

Also on Monday, the boys are at Mountain Valley (5:30 p.m.) and Jan. 3 (at Boothbay, 7 p.m.).

The girls have a Dec. 30 basketball game at Mountain Valley (2:30 p.m.) and a Jan. 2 game at Boothbay (7 p.m.), while the swimmers are off until Jan. 17 (home, Gardiner).

Richmond

“We are traveling to Seacoast Christian on Dec. 28 and hosting an Alumni Game on Dec. 26 with both boys and girls,” said athletic director Molly Bishop.

The boys will continue on Jan. 2 with a home game against Pine Tree Academy (5:30 p.m.), while the girls visit Old Orchard Beach on Jan. 3 (7 p.m.).
