The Harpswell Board of Selectman special meeting has been re-sheduled from the planned 9 a.m. time to 3 p.m. this afternoon, Dec. 30. In the meeting, Selectmen will be discussing an extension to the purchase and sales agreement of the Allen property.

In a special meeting held Nov. 5, Harpswell voters approved the purchase of Dain Allen’s .14 acre lot for $85,000. This measure would enhance the town’s abutting parcel and preserve waterfront access to residents.

A phase 1 environmental assessment of the property threw up a red flag for possible soil contamination, which lead to the issue of a phase 2 study. The Harpswell Selectmen amended the property purchase agreement, dividing the burden of the $7,000 study between the town and Allen.
