SOUTH HIRAM — Chase Gendron scored 25 points Friday night as North Yarmouth Academy took control after a wild first-half momentum swing and went on to a 76-51 victory against Sacopee Valley in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.

Gendron opened a wild first half by scoring 15 in the first quarter to stake the Panthers (3-2) to a 29-7 lead.

After Gendron picked up his third foul early in the second quarter, the Hawks (1-5) applied more defensive pressure, which led to more fast breaks and a 26-2 rally.

Domick Locke had 12 points and Alex Fenderson added 11 during the run that put the Hawks ahead 36-31 at halftime.

NYA recovered the lead 53-45 in the third quarter and held Sacopee to six points the rest of the way.

El Tayeb Dahia had 23 points and Jackson Cohen-Smith finished with 13 for NYA.

Fenderson ended with 19 points and Locke had 16 for Sacopee.

GREELY 61, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 40: Mike McDevitt scored 19 points and Conner Hanley added 14 as the Rangers (7-0) defeated the Raiders (4-2) at Cumberland.

McDevitt had seven assists and Hanley added six.

The Rangers started each half with a big run. Greely led 21-12 after the first quarter and doubled up the Raiders 18-9 in the third quarter for a 54-31 lead.

Bailey Train made three 3-pointers for nine points, and Kyle Wood also had nine points on four field goals and a free throw.

Ryan Gullickson scored 27 points on nine field goals, two 3-pointers and two foul shots for Fryeburg.

KENNBUNK 60, FREEPORT 33: The Rams (2-5) opened with a 20-4 run and went on to down the Falcons (0-7) at Kennebunk.

Nate Gilbert had five points and Austin Sandler and Jack Lapham chipped in four apiece in the first quarter.

Sandler finished with 15 points, followed by Zachary MacKinnon with 10.

Jack Davenport led Freeport with 10 points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

WINDHAM 47, WESTBROOK 40: Sadie Nelson had 18 points to lead the Eagles (6-2) over the Blue Blazes (3-5) at Windham.

Luisa Sbardella added 11 points for the Eagles, who made 6 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Haley Batchelder finished with seven points and 10 rebounds.

Alisha Aube scored 23 points, including six 3-pointers, for Westbrook, which trailed by three with about a minute left.

FREEPORT 71, KENNEBUNK 43: Nina Davenport scored 30 points with 14 rebounds, two steals and two assists as the Falcons (2-5) downed the Rams (2-5) at Freeport.

Vanessa Lee added 10 points with eight rebounds for Freeport, which built a 41-19 lead in the first half. Ashley Richardson had six points, eight steals and six assists for the Falcons.

Sarah Bradley scored 13 points to pace the Rams.

MCAULEY 60, BIDDEFORD 25: Victoria Lux had 14 points and 12 rebounds, Olivia Smith 16 points and Allie Clement 12 to lead the Lions (7-0) past Biddeford (1-7) at Portland.

McAuley opened with a 15-4 run and pulled steadily away.

GREELY 52, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 42: Ashley Storey scored all 16 of her points in the second half to help the Rangers (5-2) over the Raiders (2-4) at Fryeburg.

Haley Felkel added 10 points, while Sarah Felkel and Moira Train had six points apiece. Both Felkels had two 3-pointers.
