The University of Maine’s hockey game Saturday at Fenway Park against Boston University will start 45 minutes earlier than originally scheduled.

UMass Lowell will play Northeastern at 2:15 p.m. followed by the Black Bears’ game at 5:45 p.m.

The change was made to accommodate fans who would like to get home in time to watch the New England Patriots game on Saturday night, which starts 8:15.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN: Coach Nicky Pearson was named the Division III Coach of the Year by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. It is the fourth time in her career Pearson has won the award.

Pearson led the Polar Bears to an 18-3 record and their fourth national championship in 2013.

IOWA STATE: Former Kansas coach Mark Mangino was hired as the offensive coordinator .

UAB: Running back Darrin Reaves is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL draft. Reaves ran for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns last season after earning first-team All-Conference USA honors as a sophomore.

CLEMSON: Record-setting wide receiver Sammy Watkins says he’s headed to the NFL.

Watkins has set 23 school records in three seasons. He finished his career as the most outstanding player of the Orange Bowl. He caught 16 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns in No. 12 Clemson’s 40-35 win over seventh-ranked Ohio State.

UCLA: QB Brett Hundley will return for his junior season.

NOTRE DAME: Defensive end Stephon Tuitt is leaving school early and entering the NFL draft.

Tuitt is the second Irish defensive lineman to declare for the NFL draft, joining nose guard Louis Nix III.

FLORIDA: Linebacker Ronald Powell is leaving school early and entering the NFL draft.

Powell missed the entire 2012 season after twice tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
