NORTH POWNAL, Vt. (AP) — Authorities have cleared an ice jam on a tributary of the Hoosic River near the post office in North Pownal, Vt.

An excavator cleared the jam off Route 346 on Monday. There was some flooding.

The Bennington Banner reports the receding water left large chunks of ice on residents’ lawns. One mobile home had water surrounding it, and one resident was pumping water from their basement.
