Kennebunk police were called to a series of car crashes on York Street at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday that were apparently triggered by a driver who has a medical condition.
Dana L. Scarborough, 83, of 17 Branch Road, Wells, was driving his 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound when he experienced a medical issue, police said.
Scarborough struck the vehicle directly in front of him, which then caused a chain reaction. In all, Scarborough’s pickup truck, three other vehicles that were moving, and one parked vehicle were involved in the crash.
Scarborough, the driver of a second vehicle, and the driver and passenger in a third vehicle were transported to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.
Three vehicles were towed from the crash scene.
Scarborough’s dog, which was in the pickup with him at the time, did not sustain any injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
