TOPSHAM — Hazel P. Parlin, 83, died Jan. 1 at Mid-Coast Hospital. 

Parlin was born in Harrison on Aug. 10, 1930, a daughter of Harry and Nettie Edson Kimball, and attended Harrison schools. She spent many years working in shoe manufacturing factories in Lewiston, South Paris and Brunswick, and took pride in her workmanship.

On July 2, 1957, she married Sherm Parlin, of Gardiner. They had four children. She and her husband enjoyed spending time at their camp on Pleasant Pond, and especially liked singing songs by the campfire. As part of her husband’s job as a Prudential agent, the two of them traveled extensively and enjoyed their many trips within the country and overseas. She took care of her husband during his illness, owning and opening a cleaning business. 

She loved to craft, crochet, and watch and feed birds. She was a cat lover and enjoyed her pets over the years, especially DJ and Muffin. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family meant the world to her. 

She is survived by her son, Dan Parlin and wife Linda, of Topsham; stepson, Ken Parlin and wife Rachael, of Bath; three daughters, Roberta Edson and husband Dick, of Casco, Debbie Flaig and husband Dan, of Topsham, and Laurie Ham and companion Tom McCoy, of Topsham; two brothers, her twin, William Kimball, of Freeport, and Harry Kimball Jr., of South Paris; three sisters, Muriel Brine, of Norway, Dorothy Saucier, of Auburn, and Freda Nelson; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Myrna Benoit and Phyllis Saucier.

Visiting hours were held Jan. 7 at Stetson’s Funeral Home, Brunswick, followed by a service with the Rev. Ron. McLaughlin officiating. Burial, beside her husband in Rogers Cemetery, Topsham, will take place in the spring.
