NEWRY — Maine’s Sunday River ski resort is hosting a racing event that doesn’t involve skiing or snowboarding.
The Red Bull Frozen Rush on Friday features eight 900-horsepower trucks and professional drivers for a head-to-head race on the resort’s unpredictable snowy terrain.
Each truck has been modified with giant spiked tires designed to handle the snow and ice.
The resort says the drivers will climb the nearly mile-long course, racing head-to-head and ascending 550 vertical feet before returning again to the base of the hill.
