BANGOR — Liz Wood scored a game-high 22 points to pace four UMaine players in double figures as the Black Bears downed the Catamounts 92-62 to pick up their third straight win in America East women’s basketball action at Cross Insurance Center.

Ashleigh Roberts added 16 points for UMaine and Cherrish Wallace recorded her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

Wood scored 15 of her points in the first half on 6-for-6 shooting as the Black Bears raced to a 48-35 halftime lead.

UMaine improved to 9-8 and 3-1 while Vermont fell to 4-12 and 1-2.

RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 47, SOUTHERN MAINE 31: Sophomores Vandall Andrade and Danielle LeBlanc scored nine points each to lead RIC (9-5, 3-1 LEC) over USM (9-5, 2-2) at Providence, R.I.

Erin McNamara was the high scorer for the Huskies with seven points. RIC led 30-11 at halftime as Southern Maine shot 10 percent (3 for 30).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 80, SOUTHERN MAINE 68: Victor Smith scored 11 of his team-high 19 points in the second half as the Anchormen (9-5, 3-1) erased an eight-point, second-half deficit to rally past the Huskies (5-9, 1-3) in a Little East game at Providence, R.I.

Connor Sullivan scored 20 points to lead the Huskies and Cole Libby added 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

INDIANA 75, (3) WISCONSIN 72: Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell scored 25 points, leading host Indiana to a stunning upset over previously unbeaten Wisconsin.

The third-ranked Badgers (16-1, 3-1 Big Ten) were trying to become the first team ever to win 13 straight games over the Hoosiers (12-5, 2-2).

(5) WICHITA STATE 72, BRADLEY 50: Fred VanVleet had 22 points and the Shockers (18-0, 5-0 Missouri Valley Conference) won at home.

Bradley fell to 6-12,1-4.

(7) FLORIDA 72, GEORGIA 50: Michael Frazier II scored a career-high 21 points and the Gators (14-2, 3-0 SEC) won at home against the Bulldogs (8-7, 2-1), setting a school record for consecutive home wins with 25.

KANSAS STATE 72, (25) OKLAHOMA 66: Marcus Foster scored 18 points, Nino Williams made four clinching free throws and the Wildcats (13-4, 3-1) held on at home against the Sooners (13-4, 2-2).

MEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 4, ST. FRANCIS XAVIER 1: Will Merchant scored twice to lead the Black Bears past St. Francis Xavier in an exhibition game at Alfond Arena in Orono.

Devin Shore scored what proved to be the winning goal midway through the first period and Bill Norman added a goal and an assist for UMaine.

UMaine goalie Dan Sullivan made 25 saves in 53 minutes to earn the win.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Sophomore Beth Findley stopped 27 shots to record her first career shutout for Bowdoin (7-5) in a win over USM (8-6-1) in Brunswick.

The Polar Bears took the lead early when senior Mallory Andrews deflected a shot from Marne Gallant past goaltender Nia Kelly.

The rest of the game was all goaltending as Kelly finished with 30 saves.
