KENTS HILL — The Camden Hills boys’ hockey team features one of the top lines in Western Class B, if not the state.

Jack Orne, Grayson Szumilas and Simon Lydon showed Maranacook/Winthrop on Saturday night just how dangerous they can be. They combined for three goals and an assist as Camden Hills rolled to a 5-1 victory at Bonnefond Ice Arena.

“Those guys are very good,” said Maranacook/Winthrop Coach Chip Jones. “They’re tough. Camden is just a good team. They attack in numbers and they defend in numbers. They do everything that I’m trying to hammer our guys to do.”

Camden Hills (10-1-1) was coming off its first loss – a 7-2 setback Wednesday against two-time defending Class B state champion Greely.

The Windjammers were eager to bounce back strong, and they did just that against the Hawks (5-7).

Orne scored two goals and Szumilas added another for Camden Hills, which outshot Maranacook/Winthrop, 30-17.

“We just had a tough loss to Greely so this was a nice bounce-back game for us,” Camden Hills Coach Karl Enroth said.

The Hawks kept it close for a while. Szumilas scored 39 seconds into the game for the Windjammers a 1-0 lead, but that was all the scoring in the first period.

“We played really well in the first period,” Jones said. “We hung with them but then they got that quick goal early in the second.”

Two of them, actually.

Camden Hills extended its lead to 3-0 when Orne and James Annis scored nine seconds apart a little more than three minutes into the second.

Orne ripped a shot from the top of the right circle past Hawks goalie Josh Ehiorobo.

“There was a quick turnover in the neutral zone and I pulled up at the blue line,” Orne said. “I had guys with me and I put a shot through to the bottom corner.”
