KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk police are investigating an unusual crash in which a woman drove off the road, hit a rock retaining wall, rolled her vehicle over and kept driving despite flat tires.

The driver suffered a broken nose and cuts and two children who were passengers suffered cuts in the crash.

Lt. Anthony J. Bean Burpee said 38-year-old Megan H. Ogden of Limerick Road in Arundel was driving a 2011 Honda Pilot when it went off Alewive Road near Kennebunk Elementary School around 3:05 p.m. Monday.

Burpee said the Pilot drove between two trees, struck a rock retaining wall, rolled over and came to rest right side up. Ogden then continued driving east on Alewive Road before stopping on Alfred Road near the entrance to Corning Inc.

The Pilot sustained heavy damage that included a shattered windshield, deployed front and side airbags and several flat tires.

Burpee said police are still investigating why Ogden, who was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, drove about half a mile following the crash.

“We don’t know why she left the crash scene. There are a lot of unanswered questions,” Burpee said.

Police said the two children, ages 7 and 9, were also taken to the hospital. Both children had been properly secured in booster car seats. Ogden and the children did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
