WATERVILLE — Connor O’Neil and Chris Hudnut scored 21 points apiece for Colby as the Mules cruised past UMaine-Presque Isle 101-66 in a nonconference men’s basketball game Tuesday night.

O’Neil also contributed seven rebounds and six assists, and Hudnut had eight boards. Patrick Stewart added 17 points and nine rebounds for Colby (13-9).

Michael Warner scored 14 to lead five scorers in double digits for the Owls (8-14).


ST. JOSEPH’S 78, EMMANUEL 67: Matt Medeiros’ 31 points led St. Joseph’s (13-8, 12-2) during a Great Northeast Athletic Conference victory over the Saints (4-18, 2-13) in Boston.

Medeiros opened the second half with a 3-pointer, widening the Monks’ 37-34 halftime lead to 40-34 and igniting a 14-3 run. Emmanuel pulled no closer than seven points.


Nich Jobin added 20 points for St. Joseph’s. Steve Simonds had 12.


PLYMOUTH STATE 64, SOUTHERN MAINE 62: Fred Knight sank two free throws to pull Southern Maine (6-16, 2-9 LEC) within 64-60 with just under two minutes to play in Boston, then scored from the paint to narrow the margin to 64-62.

The Panthers (11-11, 5-6) missed a pair of shots before the Huskies’ Conor Sullivan blocked a shot and grabbed the rebound to give Southern Maine possession with 18 seconds to play. The Huskies worked the ball to Knight with four seconds left, but his shot hit the rim and Curtis Arsenault grabbed the rebound and the game for Plymouth State.

Arsenault’s 14 led Plymouth State. Jacob Littlefield netted 15 for Southern Maine.



(3) FLORIDA 67, TENNESSEE 58: Scottie Wilbekin had 16 points and six assists, and the Gators stepped up their defense in the second half and outlasted the host Vols for their 16th straight win.

Michael Frazier added 11 points to help the Gators (22-2, 11-0 SEC) beat Tennessee in Knoxville for just the second time in their last nine attempts.

Jarnell Stokes had 20 points and nine rebounds for Tennessee (15-9, 6-5),.


(19) TEXAS 87, OKLAHOMA STATE 68: Javan Felix scored 27 points, making six 3-pointers, and the Longhorns (19-5, 8-3) rolled past the Cowboys (16-8, 4-7) who played their first game without star Marcus Smart, who was suspended for three games for shoving a fan.

Felix scored eight consecutive points that pushed Texas’ lead to 22 early in the second half.


Smart, who averages 18 points, will miss games against Oklahoma and Baylor before returning for the Cowboys’ rematch with Texas Tech.


SOUTHERN MAINE 54, PLYMOUTH STATE 48: Mariah Callender’s 3-pointer started a Southern Maine 28-9 run that culminated in a win for the Huskies (14-7, 6-4 Little East) in Plymouth, N.H.

Megan Pelletier finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds; Callender scored 11. DeAsia Lawrence led Plymouth State (2-17, 1-9) with 12 points.


ST. JOSEPH’S 54, SIMMONS 28: Abby Young scored 17 points during St. Joseph’s (17-5, 7-1 GNAC) victory over the Sharks (2-17, 0-8) in Boston.


COLBY 2, PLYMOUTH STATE 1: Samantha Slotnick and Kat Mackey scored first-period goals and the Mules (7-11-2) held off the Panthers (4-17-2) at Plymouth, N.H.

Brianne Wheeler finished with 18 saves for the Mules.
