BRUNSWICK — Volunteers of America Northern New England recently received $5,000 from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation to provide supplemental food to residents of eight affordable senior housing programs in Maine.

Volunteers of America Northern New England helps the most vulnerable people rebuild their lives. The faith- based organization operates 30 programs in Maine and New Hampshire, including 10 affordable senior housing facilities that provide safe, secure and affordable apartment homes for seniors. The organization is always looking for donations of non-perishable food items to stock senior pantries at each of its locations, including Saco, Bangor, Belfast, Thomaston, Augusta, Topsham, Peak’s Island, Portland, Loudon, N.H.
