PORTLAND (AP) — A Massachusetts woman who lied to a federal grand jury in Maine about a 2007 armed jewelry heist in Kittery has been sentenced to a year of probation.

Yaira Ramos, of Saugus, Mass., was sentenced Monday in federal court in Portland.

Ramos pleaded guilty in October to making false statements to the grand jury for lies she told to cover for her then-boyfriend, Miguel Caraballo, and two others who robbed the Ultra Diamonds store in 2007.

Prosecutors say Ramos said she didn’t know what was in bags she saw at her boyfriend’s apartment, when she knew it was jewelry.
