Massabesic High School students are putting out the message that distracted driving can lead to crashes. Here, students Jordan Drain, Matthew Allen, Kaitlyn Simonds, School Resource Officer and York County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Solomon, and student Samantha Murray pose for a photo beside a display in the school’s main lobby. Solomon said statistics show there were 3,092 people killed and 416,000 injured nationwide in 2010 because of distracted driving, and that people sending text messages while driving are 23 more times likely to be in a crash. Students can sign a pledge against texting and driving at www.onetextonecall.com.
