Taylor Browne scored 1:32 in overtime from Taylor Cooper and Owen Lamoine, and Thornton Academy downed Cheverus 5-4 in a schoolboy hockey game at the Portland Ice Arena.
Thornton (7-10-1) led 2-0 at the end of the first period on goals by Alex Fallon and Lemoine, who finished with one goal and four assists.
The Stags (9-8-1) took the lead with three goals in the opening 11:44 of the second, two by James Hannigan.
Jake Verreault tied it with 1:32 left in the second, but Cheverus responded with a goal by Jesse Cyr-Brophy just eight seconds later.
Fallon tied it for the Trojans 30 seconds later.
SOUTH PORTLAND 2, MARSHWOOD/TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Kyle Havorsen scored 3:47 into overtime from Chris Mitchell to lift the Red Riots (11-7) over Marshwood/Traip Academy (6-12) at Portland.
The game remained scoreless until the final minute of the second period when Marshwood/Traip Academy took the lead on a goal by Joe Cohn.
South Portland tied it with 5:25 left in the third period when Mitchell scored a power-play goal from Andrew Whipple.
YARMOUTH 6, CAMDEN HILLS 5: Robert Murray had four goals and two assists to lead the Clippers (12-5-1) past the Windjammers (13-4-1) at Rockport.
Isaak Dearden added a power-play goal and three assists for Yarmouth. Jack Orne scored four goals for Camden Hills, two on power plays.
NOBLE/WELLS 6, PORTLAND/DEERING 1: Dean Pratt and Chullainn Kelly each scored twice as Noble/Wells (14-4) got five third-period goals to pull away from Portland/Deering (6-11-1) at Rochester Ice Arena.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
CARRABEC 58, MARANACCOOK 52: The third-seeded Cobras (17-4) reached the Western Class C final for the first time in 17 years, defeating second-seeded Maranacook (14-6) at Augusta.
MADISON 62, DIRIGO 58: Emily McKenney’s layup with less than six minutes left put fifth-seeded Madison (15-6) ahead for good against eighth-seeded Dirigo (13-8) in a Western Class C semifinal at Augusta.
