SANFORD — Mary J. “May” Moscato, 89, of Sanford, passed away at her home on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

She was born in Cambridge, Mass. on Dec. 19, 1924, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Blake) Delgado.

A resident of Sanford since 1955, she had been employed at Hannaford for the past 28 years.

She loved beano, meat raffles and going to Foxwood’s. She loved all of her children and loved family gatherings. She was always asked to make her famous potato salad and Chinese chicken wings, Portuguese soup and stuffing.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Alphonse Moscato, who passed away in 2004; one brother, James Delgado; and great-grandson, Jessie James Collette.

She is survived by: her children, Sandra Emard and her husband Conrad “Ki” of Alfred, Mary Ann Polley and her partner George Lebeuf of Sanford, Joan Vigue and her husband Richard of Alfred and Kevin Moscato and his wife Becky of Sanford; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in her memory to the Cancer Care Center of Sanford, 27 Industrial Ave., Sanford, ME 04073.
