SACO — Lillian (St. Germain) Plourde, 88, of Saco and formerly of Caribou, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at Evergreen Manor.

She was born in Millinocket on Feb. 26, 1925, a daughter of Henri and Modest (Ouellette) St. Germain. She was the fifth child of 10.

In 1927, the St. Germain family moved to their home on Route 11 in Wallagrass. Lillian attended elementary school in the neighboring town of Fort Kent.

In 1942, she was employed at Viderroot in Hartford, Conn.

Lillian married Alberic Plourde on Aug. 17, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Church in Wallagrass. Three years later, they moved to Caribou where they lived for 34 years.

Lillian was a regular communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Caribou and at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach. The key points of her spiritual life were the Cursillo movement and her yearly weekend retreat in New Brunswick, Canada. While at Holy Rosary in Caribou, she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and an active participant in church and catholic school activities.

Lillian was a devoted wife, a caring mother and an outstanding homemaker. She had a tender heart for all the neighborhood children who delighted in her homemade cookies. She was known to be quite a chef. She enjoyed music, reading, cooking and receiving guests from far and near.

After raising her six children, Lillian worked as Miller’s Outlet in Caribou and at the Urseline Sisters’ Infirmary in Waterville, where she and her husband resided for a few years.

Lillian was preceded in death by: her beloved husband of 60 years, Alberic; two brothers, Hermon and Eddie St. Germain; three sisters, Lou Jacques, Julie Sopher and Germaine St. Germain; and a dear son-in-law, Rodney Anderson.

She is survived by: her three daughters and her three sons, Sr. Linda Mae Plourde, PM, of Marie Joseph Spiritual Center, Rev. James Plourde of Madawaska, Faye Anderson of Hampton, Allen Plourde and his wife Diane of St. Agatha, Roger Plourde of Saco and Lisa Cyr and her husband Jay of Old Orchard Beach; six grandchildren, Aubree Booth and her husband Jim, Kyle Anderson and his wife Kelly, Brooke Bock and her husband Matt, Melissa Plourde and her boyfriend Craig Brescia, Elisha Foss and her husband Derek and Eric Cyr and his girlfriend Chiara; five great-grandchildren: Nora, Colin, Gabrielle, Brayden and Tanner; four sisters, Lorraine Paulman, Irene Pinette, Dora Martin and Mary Ellen Gess; one sister-in-law, Marion St. Germain; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 and from 10-10:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco. Following visiting hours on Friday, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Saco.
