WARREN (AP) — Authorities say the Maine State Prison inmate suspected of killing a fellow prisoner last week has been placed in a segregation unit where he has no contact with other inmates.

Deputy Attorney General William Stokes tells the Portland Press Herald that the 35-year-old suspect was removed from the general population following the attack Friday at the prison in Warren that took the life of 37-year-old Micah Boland.

Authorities allege the suspect used two makeshift knives to repeatedly stab the victim.

Stokes says the suspect is expected to face a murder charge in Knox County Superior Court in Rockland.

Stokes says Boland is the fourth inmate at the Maine State Prison to have died by violent means in the past five years.
