BIDDEFORD — Fernand A. Marchand, 73, of Biddeford, died Saturday morning at Southern Maine Health Care, Biddeford Campus.

He was born June 12, 1940 in Biddeford, a son of Adelard and Blanche (Beaupre) Marchand, and was educated in Biddeford schools.

On Sept. 3, 1966, he married Doris R. Bilodeau at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.

He had been employed for nine years at Pepperell Mfg. Company/West Point Pepperell and for 27 years with Maremont/Saco Defense, retiring in 1996 due to disability.

He had been a member of Union St. Jean Baptiste and also the Biddeford-Saco Lodge of Elks.

Fern enjoyed watching football, especially the Patriots, computer gaming, and spending time with

his granddaughters.

He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Doris R. Bilodeau Marchand of Biddeford; two daughters, Diane Burgess and her husband Matt of Old Orchard Beach and Michelle Arsenault and her husband Steve of Saco; two granddaughters, Allison and Meagan Arsenault of Saco; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Priscille Bilodeau; one nephew, Bryan Bilodeau; and several cousins.

Visiting hours will be 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
