PARSONSFIELD — Carlton P. Bickford Jr., 84, of Parsonsfield, died on March 6, 2014 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Springvale on June 2, 1929, a son of Carlton Bickford Sr. and Elsie (Bartlett) Bickford.
He attended Sanford schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1947.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Janet Costello on Dec. 6, 1952.
Carlton worked at Cyro Industries in Sanford for 27 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post in Sanford and was proud to be a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed gardening and carpentry projects around his home, and he also liked working on his vehicles in his spare time. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by: a brother, Gerald Bickford.
Surviving are: his beloved wife, Janet Bickford of Parsonsfield; a daughter, Sandra Brown and husband Donald of Shapleigh; a son, Daniel Bickford and wife Deborah of Parsonsfield; five grandchildren, Zalana, Melinda, Melissa, Joseph and Jason; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
