BIDDEFORD — Therese M. Couture, 85, of Biddeford, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her family, Sunday evening, March 9, 2014, at her residence.

She was born in Biddeford on Sept. 5, 1928, a daughter of Jean-Baptiste and Eva (Boutin) Deschenes.

Her education was grounded at St. Joseph’s throughout her elementary years, culminating with her graduation from high school in 1946.

Therese married her husband, Edward, on June 3, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.

She was employed by Bates Manufacturing, Shaw’s Supermarket and various banks in the Biddeford and Saco area, but most of all, she loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family.

She was an accomplished seamstress, talented interior decorator, and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and passion for music.

She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by: one sister, Alice Lapointe; and three brothers, Maurice, Gerard and Normand Deschenes.

She is survived by: her husband of 64 years, Edward R. Couture of Biddeford; three children, Priscilla Denton and husband Chris, Connie Hammer and husband Nick, all of Saco, and Marc Couture and wife Denise of Appleton, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, David, Jonathan, Chris D., Michael, Dan, Chris R., Adam, Matthew, Allison and Karinne; and one great-grandson, Christopher.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will be private at a later date.
