People really have a problem with the Spurwink Gun Club (“Cape Elizabeth council approves gun range ordinance,” March 11).
I am a longtime shooter and have been a member of many gun clubs. Unless there is some control, they simply won’t work in a residential neighborhood.
I have a perfect solution: The club should simply ban the firing of high-powered rifles and shotguns. Believe me, many gun clubs do this.
Let members use any kind of pistols and rifles using pistol ammunition (like .22, etc). Works out well.
Look, I live on Spurwink Avenue, which is a few miles away from the club, and I can hear them blasting away during the summer with these high-powered rifles.
