In your editorial of March 8 (“Our Views: Thumbs up, thumbs down: A review of Maine news”), I question your statement that “tea party Republicans shut down the federal government last year to protest the Obama administration’s economic policies.”
Who really shut down the government? During the first week of the shutdown, the Republican House passed a fully funded budget except for Obamacare. The Democratic-controlled Senate refused to consider it.
So, who put their political aims above the welfare of the entire country? Is that political program more important than the entire United States government?
The government had been functioning normally prior to Obamacare. I resent the liberal press continuing to spread the fallacy of the Republicans being irresponsible.
