University of Maine quarterback Marcus Wasilewski, who led the Black Bears to their first Colonial Athletic Association football championship in the fall, was named the CAA Student-Athlete of the Year Monday.

A fifth-year senior who graduated cum laude in December with a degree in kinesiology and physical education, Wasilewski is currently working toward a master’s degree at UMaine. As a two-year starter at quarterback, Wasilewski threw for 52 touchdowns and 6,564 yards.

Five Maine teammates joined Wasilewski, a native of Kulpmont, Pa., in receiving Academican All-CAA honors. The others are Trevor Bates of Westbrook, Arron Archey of Newmanstown, Pa., Jonathan Louis of Taunton, Mass., Michael Mangiarelli of Warren, Ohio, and Benedict Wezel of Berlin, Germany.
