SACO — Jeanne M. Sabo, 84, of Saco, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.

She was born in Siegas, New Brunswick, Canada, on July 30, 1929, a daughter of Armand and Eva (Lynch) Levesque.

Jeanne attended a one-room school in Siegas through eighth grade, then convent boarding schools in Campbelton and St. John, New Brunswick. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in St. John, Class of 1947. She entered St. Joseph School of Nursing at Hotel Dieu Hospital and graduated in 1951.

She worked in TB sanatoriums in Batthurst, Grand Falls and St. Basille, New Brunswick.

In November of 1952, she married Paul C. Sabo and moved to Caribou, where their first son, Robert, was born. They moved to Milwaukee, Wis. in 1954 and had two more children, Pauline and Michael. Jeanne worked at St. Michael’s hospital in Milwaukee. In 1956, they moved back to Maine and lived for a short time in Madawaska and finally settled in St. David in 1958. Their sons, Daniel, Steven and Thomas, were born, and later their daughter, Anne Marie, and son, Patrick.

Jeanne was employed as a registered nurse at Hotel Dieu hospital in Edmundston until 1970. She later worked for nursing homes in Madawaska and Frenchville and finished her nursing career as an industrial nurse at Fraser Paper in Madawaska. After retirement in 1995, Jeanne and Paul moved to Lisbon and later to Saco in 1996.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul on Dec. 6, 1997; her daughter, Ann Marie on Feb. 14, 1968; and her brothers and sister.

She is survived by: her seven children, Robert Sabo and his wife Sonia, Pauline Griesbach and her husband Paul, Michael Sabo and his wife Caron, Daniel Sabo and his wife Katherine, Steven Sabo and his wife Maryann, Thomas Sabo and his wife Tracy and Patrick Sabo; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Church in Augusta. Burial will follow Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery on Civic Center Drive in Augusta.
