BIDDEFORD — Eleanor Canfield, 80, of Biddeford, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Southridge Living and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Sept. 3, 1933 in Springvale, a daughter of Perley and Marjorie (Grant) Beal, and was educated in Sanford schools.

Her first husband, Willard Philbrick, died in 1973.

On Nov. 26, 1983, she married Ray Canfield in Biddeford.

Eleanor had been employed at Herman Shoe in Scarborough and later at Fiber Materials Inc. in Biddeford, retiring in 2003.

She enjoyed playing bingo and Yahtzee.

Surviving are: her husband, Ray Canfield of Biddeford; two sons, Leland Philbrick of South Thomaston and Steven Philbrick and his fiancée Julia O’Brien of Saco; two daughters, Pamela Richards and her husband Malcolm of Potsdam, N.Y. and Janis Ganong and her husband Patrick of Biddeford; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one nephew, Robert Phinney of Gilsom, N.H.; and one niece, Linda Taylor Gordon of Meddybemps.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Biddeford at a later date.
