KENNEBUNK — Roselle Cassidy Flynn, 89, of Kennebunk, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Huntington Common in Kennebunk.

Roselle was born to John Francis Cassidy Jr. and Isabel Delano Cassidy on Aug. 27, 1924. The oldest of four children, her siblings were Joan Cassidy Stetson, John Francis Cassidy III and Barbara Ann Cassidy.

Roselle attended grade school at St. Mary’s parochial school in Bangor. She attended four years at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton, Conn., where she received the Medal of Les Enfant de Marie, of which she was very proud. She continued her education, graduating from Rosemont College in Rosemont, Pa. Later in life, Roselle participated in The Wroxton Experience at Wroxton College in Wroxton, near Banbury, Oxfordshire, England.

Roselle was married to Raymond Martin Flynn in 1948 in Bangor.

Roselle enjoyed her many residences in Maine and Georgia. After raising six children, she traveled extensively worldwide.

A devout Catholic, Roselle was involved with many related charities, among them Catherine McCauley High School, Mercy Hospital, St. Joseph’s College, Cheverus High School and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor. In addition, she served on the board of directors at Berwick Academy and the former Webber Hospital.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her siblings; her son-in-law, Wayne Roberts; and her husband, Raymond.

Roselle is survived by: her six children, Roselle Flynn Johnson and her husband Steven of Sea Island, Ga., Mary Flynn Woodman and her husband Robert of Kennebunkport, John P. Flynn and Jacki Savage, Isabel Flynn Lescure and her husband John, Elisabeth Flynn Roberts and Martha Jane Flynn, all of Kennebunk.

Roselle was known as “Mémère” to 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The Flynn family expresses their deep gratitude to the staff at Huntington Common, Beacon Hospice and especially Rebecca Hilton Valencia.

Visiting hours will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Martha’s Church, Portland Road, Kennebunk. A reception will follow at Coastal House, Route 1, Wells. Interment will follow in the spring with a private service at the Cassidy Mausoleum in Bangor.
