HIGHGATE, Vt. — Vermont State Police say one lane of Interstate 89 north in Highgate has reopened after the crash of a small plane.
State Police Spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro says preliminary reports Friday are that the single-seat plane was on fire and the pilot of the plane may have parachuted out.
The crash was reported at mile marker 125 just north of Interstate exit 21 in Swanton.
Dasaro says the interstate will be shut down while crews attend to the pilot and put out the fire.
There’s no word on the cause of the crash, the type of plane or the condition of the pilot.
