Erin Mahoney scored three goals, including the winner with less than three minutes remaining, as Portland defeated Biddeford 9-8 in a schoolgirl lacrosse opener Tuesday at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

The Bulldogs won after recovering from a three-goal deficit in the second half.

 

FREEPORT 16, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2: Meredith Broderick had five goals and two assists to lead eight scorers for the Falcons (1-0) against the Raiders (0-3) at Freeport.

Emily Johnson added three goals and one assist, and Lizzy Martin and Lindsay Cartmell scored two goals apiece for Freeport.

Alexandra Fraize scored both Fryeburg goals.

SOUTH PORTLAND 12, BONNY EAGLE 7: Abby Letourneau had four goals and two assists to lead the Red Riots in an opener at South Portland.

Colleen Fleming added three goals and an assist, Courtney Trufant scored three goals, and Lily SanGiovanni made 14 saves for South Portland.

Hannah Litif led Bonny Eagle with three goals.

 

MORSE 21, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2: Ruth Nadeau and Sophie Sreden scored four goals apiece to pace Morse in an opener at Bath.

Maddy Olsen and Isabelle Paulus added three goals apiece, and Bronwyn Morissette collected three assists for the Shipbuilders.

 

GARDINER 12, OCEANSIDE 1: Nickyia Lovely scored four goals to lead the Tigers (2-0) over Oceanside (0-1) at Rockland.

Brooke Curtis and Ally Day had two goals each, and Emma Hickey, Claire Crocker and Abby Dunn also scored.

Maddy Cutler made six saves for Gardiner.

Isabells Garve scored for Oceanside.

SOFTBALL

MASSABESIC 10, WESTBROOK 8: Renee Dugas was 3 for 4 with three runs scored and a pair of steals as the Mustangs (2-1) beat the Blue Blazes (0-2) at Westbrook.

Tessa Bandle added a triple and double with two runs.

Catherine Galipeau and Elizabeth Richardson each had a pair of hits for Westbrook.

 

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 12, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 5: The Falcons (2-1) took advantage of four errors by Monmouth Academy (0-1) to score eight runs in the fifth inning at Rumford.

Katie Collette led the Falcons with two singles and a double, and winning pitcher Lindsay Marston added a two-run triple.

For Monmouth, Sabrina Beck singled and doubled, and Shannon Buzzell and Corrie Meehan each singled twice.

Paxton Lessard struck out seven and walked one for the Mustangs.

 

KENTS HILL 17, HEBRON ACADEMY 16: Paige Frawley had two singles, including the winning hit with one out in the seventh inning to lead Kents Hill (1-1) to a walk-off victory at home.

Nina Murray had a double, home run and five RBI, and also got the pitching victory.
