STANDISH – Bonny Eagle Superintendent Frank Sherburne has recommended a 2.36 percent increase over this year’s budget. School Administrative District 6 includes the towns of Buxton, Hollis, Limington, Standish and Frye Island.

The $45,622,550 budget would increase Standish’s school tax assessment by .9 percent, or $77,948, to a total of $8,694,092.

In 2012, the district increased its budget by .83 percent, and the following year it increased the budget by 4.63 percent.

Sherburne’s proposed budget would also cut 10 full-time district positions, reduce substitute teacher salary accounts, and reduce health insurance accounts.

The budget has been endorsed by the SAD 6 Budget Advisory Committee and the District Budget Committee.

The Board of Directors will hold a special public budget meeting at the central office at 94 Main St. in Buxton on Saturday, May 3. If the board does not vote on the budget at the May 3 meeting, it may hold additional meetings on May 8 and May 10 to further discuss the proposed budget.

On June 10, each town in the district will hold a ballot referendum on the budget.
