Thank you for the great story by Bob Keyes about the extraordinary job Mark Bessire has done for the Portland Museum of Art and Congress Square in just the last five years. He has accomplished during this short period many of the dreams and aspirations of all of us who are closely connected to the institution. We applaud him.

I was disappointed that in this wonderful piece, Dan O’Leary was not mentioned. He served for 16 years as PMA director and under his leadership managed the purchase of the Homer Studio, reorganized methods and staff in the museum and presented the trustees with a balanced budget annually during his tenure.

Perhaps his greatest gift was leaving an excellent basis at the institution as a start for the wonderful progress of the past five years.
