Portland High senior Brianna Holdren was recently selected Maine State Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Maine Alliance for her sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community. Holdren (joined by Portland Clubhouse Unit Director Jen Pierce) received a $1,000 college scholarship and will take part in the regional competition for an additional scholarship this summer in New York City. Holdren, an all-conference basketball player who was named Portland’s Winter Female Athlete of the Year, will attend St. Joseph’s College next year.
“Brianna truly embodies the meaning behind everything we do here at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine,” said Pierce. “More importantly, she represents just one of 2,600 reasons why we get up every day and head to our Clubhouses.”
