WELLS — Maddie Taylor led the way offensively by going 2-for-2 with a single, a two-run double in the third and two runs scored as Wells topped Poland 8-2 in a Western Maine Conference softball game on Monday.
Lauren Bame pitched a complete-game three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and one walk for the Warriors (6-1), who led 7-0 after four innings before Poland (4-5) scored a pair in the fifth.

Massabesic 4, Biddeford 1
BIDDEFORD — Jason Langlois downed Ashton Collins 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match to key Massabesic’s 4-1 victory over Biddeford in an SMAA boys tennis match on Monday.
Biddeford’s (2-4) Kenny Reyes beat Jake Collupy 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles, while the Mustangs (2-3) Kyle Duffy topped Adam Michel 7-5, 6-1 at No 3 singles.
Massabesic also won both doubles matches as Andrew Mongiat and Adam Marcotte defeated Aaron Cantara and Trevor Jordan 6-2, 7-5, and Avery Ring and Chase Berry downed Brady Huet and Chris Charest 6-4, 6-0.
Thornton Academy 5, Gorham 0
GORHAM — Victor Menezes beat Tom Susi 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match as Thornton Academy stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 victory over Gorham in an SMAA boys tennis match on Monday.
David Parran beat the Rams’ (2-3) Erik Anderson 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, while Jared Waterhouse fought back to beat Joe Morton 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
The Golden Trojans also swept through both doubles matches as Will Caras and Eric Gooch topped Nate Roberts and Connor White 6-2, 6-2, while Dylan Gooch and Simon Belliveau got a tightly-contested 7-5, 7-6 (12-10) win over Owen Mulrey and Jeff McNally.
Girls Tennis
Sanford 5, McAuley 0
PORTLAND — Kathryn Doiron beat Siobhan Kenneally 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles as Sanford swept McAuley 5-0 in an SMAA girls tennis match on Monday.
Misa Mai beat the Lions’ (3-4) Mary Furlong 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Paige Tranchemontagne topped Kathleen O’Brien 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
The Spartans (4-1) also won both doubles matches as Lauren MacPherson and Ciara Negron downed Sun Yool Park and Sophie Kriecknus 6-1, 6-4, while Alley Nichols and Lauren Vachon beat Jessica LeVasseur and Kendall Hamilton 6-2, 6-2.
