SOUTH PORTLAND — Brittany Bell hit a run-scoring single in the eighth inning Wednesday and Cheverus went on to a 5-4 victory against South Portland in an SMAA softball game.

Bell, who finished with three hits, had an RBI single and scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh, giving Cheverus (8-1) a 5-3 lead. Laurine German forced extra innings with a two-run homer for the Red Riots (7-2) in the bottom of the inning.

Olivia Indorf had three hits for South Portland.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 6, FREEPORT 1: Haley True struck out 11, walked one and allowed one earned run on five hits as Gray-New Gloucester (4-5) downed the Falcons (1-7) at Freeport.

The Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jen Sutherland drove in a run on a groundout to the pitcher and Maria Valente brought home another run with a groundout to short.

Valente finished with two singles and two RBI.

Krista Bertrand provided Freeport’s run in the fifth when she tripled home pinch-runner Lauren Briggs.

GORHAM 5, MARSHWOOD 4: Amber Cavaretta scored on a wild pitch and Emily Deluca came home on a passed ball in the seventh inning to lift the Rams (3-5) over Marshwood (3-5) at Gorham.

Julia Gaudette got the win with five strikeouts, no walks and nine hits.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 5, SACOPEE VALLEY 4: Jeanette White singled home Kristen Chipman and Makayla Cooper in the eighth inning to lift the Raiders (5-4) over the Hawks (4-6) at Fryeburg.

Sacopee took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth on Miranda Schaubhut’s sacrifice fly after Makayla Frost’s two-out RBI single pulled Fryeburg even in the seventh.

BONNY EAGLE 8, MCAULEY 2: Ashlyn Wintle had two RBI to pace Bonny Eagle (7-1) over McAuley (5-5) at Standish.

The Scots took advantage of three walks, and RBI from Wintle and Rebecca Howell to score four runs in the first inning.

OCEANSIDE 12, WATERVILLE 0: Paige Tyler allowed no runs and three hits as the Mariners (5-4) rolled past the Purple Panthers (2-7) at Rockland.

Madelyn Young and Ari Curtis each had a double and two singles, and Kalyn Grover, Alexis Davis and Brooke Dugan each added a pair of singles for Oceanside.

FALMOUTH 9, LAKE REGION 3: Elizabeth Walker delivered a three-run homer in the fourth inning to lead Falmouth (6-1) over Lake Region (4-5) at Naples.

Julia Treadwell of Falmouth entered the game in the third with the bases loaded. She retired the Lakers on an infield fly, a strikeout and a grounder, and allowed one hit the rest of the way with one walk and three strikeouts.

KENNEBUNK 3, YORK 2: Meaghan Dube hit an RBI triple and scored on a single by Ally King as the Rams (4-4) used a two-run sixth inning to get by the Wildcats (0-7) at York.

King pitched a five-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks, and worked out of three bases-loaded jams.

Stephanie Rundlett of York struck out 11, allowing four hits and a walk. She struck out her 100th batter of the season in the third and finished the game with 106.

WINDHAM 5, PORTLAND 2: Olivia Mora hit a two-run single in the seventh inning as Windham (4-4) downed the Bulldogs (3-7) at Portland.

Katelyn Tucker struck out nine with no walks in a three-hitter for the Eagles.

POLAND 8, YARMOUTH 0: Kylie Martin pitched a three-hit shutout as Poland (5-5) defeated the Clippers (4-5) at Yarmouth.

Martin struck out 10 and walked three.

Michaella Arsenault hit a two-run triple in the third inning.

THORNTON ACADEMY 7, MASSABESIC 2: Erin Brayden had four hits as the Golden Trojans (4-3) downed the Mustangs (2-8) at Waterboro.

Morgan Dube added a pair of singles, and Bailey Tremblay allowed two runs on five hits with two strikeouts for Thornton.

Alyssa Wardwell had a pair of hits for Massabesic, including a home run.

WELLS 14, TRAIP ACADEMY 3: Christina LeBlanc went 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles as the Warriors (7-1) rolled past the Rangers (2-4) at Kittery.

Lauren Bame and Sophie Lamb each added doubles in Wells’ 26-hit offense. Alli Barrett, Kendra Kagiliery and Olivia Stites each had a pair of hits for Traip.

WINTHROP 12, WISCASSET 0: Krissy Doughty pitched a no-hitter, striking out 12, to lead the Ramblers (6-2) over Wiscasset (1-8) at Winthrop.

Cat Ouellette tripled and singled, and Lily Ouellette had two doubles and a single. Lily Beauregard and Abby Helm each hit two singles.

GARDINER 18, CAMDEN HILLS 0: The Tigers (9-0) collected 20 hits and defeated Camden Hills (4-5) in five innings at Gardiner.

Lilly Chepke had a single, double, triple and three RBI, and Kristal Smith singled twice and homered with two RBI for Gardiner.

Morgan Carver added two singles and a double, and Ellie Luken had two doubles and a single for the Tigers.

Smith allowed two hits and struck out seven.

CONY 7, MT. BLUE 1: Skyler Watson pitched a four-hitter to lead the Rams (8-1) over Mt. Blue (4-5) at Farmington.

Watson struck out six.

Olivia Deeves had a double and a single for Cony, and Arika Brochu added two singles. Cassidy Turgeon also doubled.

MESSALONSKEE 3, BANGOR 2: Kylee Knight led off the game with a home run, went 4 for 4, stole three bases and scored all three of the runs for Messalonskee (5-3) in an eight-inning victory against Bangor (6-3) at Oakland.

Skyler Cassum of Bangor and Kassi Michaud of Messalonskee allowed seven hits each. Cordelia Stewart had a triple and a single for Bangor.

Kristy Prelgovisk added two hits, including the winner, for Messalonskee. In the bottom of the eighth, Knight led off with a single and stole second.

With two outs, Prelgovisk drilled a shot off the right-field fence and Knight scored easily to end the game.

WINSLOW 7, ERSKINE ACADEMY 2: Hillary Libby pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Black Raiders (7-2) over Erskine Academy (2-7) at South China.

Elizabeth Pullen doubled for Winslow. Mackenzie Sawyer and Mallory Chamberlain combined for eight strikeouts for Erskine.

NOKOMIS 12, MARANACOOK 0: Becky Orcutt allowed four hits and struck out seven to pace the Warriors to a five-inning victory at Newport.

Mikayla Charters led Nokomis with two singles and a double, and Drew Graves chipped in with a pair of singles.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 6, ST. DOMINIC 1: Becky Bryant pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Mustangs (6-2) over the Saints (1-8) at Monmouth.

Kristyn Kemp led Monmouth with two doubles and three RBI, and Kylie Kemp singled twice.

HALL-DALE 10, OAK HILL 2: Olivia Maynard had a double, two singles and an RBI, and earned the pitching win as the Bulldogs (7-2) defeated Oak Hill (5-5) at Wales.

Emma Begin added two singles for Hall-Dale. Maynard allowed four hits and struck out five.

Grace Sabine doubled for Oak Hill.

OXFORD HILLS 1, SKOWHEGAN 0: The Vikings (6-2) scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning after a leadoff single and defeated the Indians (6-3) at Skowhegan.

Kaitlyn Therriault of Skowhegan struck out 12 and gave up three hits.

GOULD ACADEMY 15, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 9: Julia Getman scored five goals, Mia Harvey added three and the Huskies (3-3) pulled away in the second half against the Raiders (1-6) at Fryeburg.

McKenna Gerchman and Mackenzie Hill scored three goals apiece for Fryeburg.

YARMOUTH 9, KENNEBUNK 6: Grace O’Donnell, Shannon Fallon and Lane Simsarian scored two goals apiece for Yarmouth (5-1) against the Rams (5-1) at Kennebunk.

The Clippers outscored Kennebunk 6-2 in the first half.

Kira Schwartzman led the Rams with four goals.

GREELY 15, FALMOUTH 10: Jocelyn Mitiguy had four goals and two assists to lead the Rangers (4-2) past the Yachtsmen (2-3) at Falmouth.

Teal Otley, Cam Keefe and Gabby Bouchard added three goals apiece for Greely.

The Yachtsmen got four goals from Ella Fitzgerald and three from Julia Spugnardi. Sabrina Smithwick had three assists.
