Travis Shaw hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Portland Sea Dogs a 4-3 win over the Trenton Thunder on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Second baseman Mookie Betts had two ground-out RBI, but went 0-for-4 as his on-base streak ended at 66 games. Betts did reach base on an infield error but that does not count in baseball statistics.

Robby Scott (5-1) picked up the win in relief. He came into the sixth inning, with bases loaded and one out, and pitched out of the jam. He pitched two more shutout innings.

Deven Marrero had a RBI triple and single for Portland.

Jose Valdez got the save in the ninth, but it was not easy. Trenton loaded the bases on a walk, hit-batter and error. Valdez struck out Ben Gamel. Rob Refsnyder lined out to Betts, who doubled off the runner at second.

The Sea Dogs (25-14) play the Thunder (23-19) again Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hadlock.
