SKOWHEGAN — A Maine girl who was 10 years old when she was charged with killing an infant in her mother’s care is scheduled to appear in court where a plea deal is expected to be discussed.

The hearing for the girl scheduled for Wednesday in Skowhegan District Court is closed to the public.

But prosecutors and the Fairfield girl’s defense attorney said last week that they had agreed on a deal in which a felony manslaughter charge would be dropped in favor of a misdemeanor. The deal needs a judge’s approval.

The girl, who is now 12, was believed to be the youngest person to face a manslaughter charge in Maine in at least 30 years.

The girl is charged in the July 2012 death of 3-month-old Brooklyn Foss-Greenaway.
