SACO — Kaylee Burns hit a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, and Thornton Academy pulled away with a four-run fifth inning Friday to defeat Cheverus 9-2 in an SMAA softball game.

Bailey Trembley struck out eight and walked three in a five-hitter, and Erin Brayden had three hits with two runs and an RBI for Thornton (9-3).

Aleisha Cross and Libby Pomerleau each added two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs apiece for the Trojans.

Emma Engelman and Josie Bradshaw drove in runs for Cheverus (10-3).

GARDINER 7, OCEANSIDE 0: Brittany Rollins pitched a six-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Tigers (12-0) shut out the Mariners (8-5) at Rockland.

Gardiner had four hits and received seven walks.

Ari Curtis and Alex Mazurek each had a double and a single for Oceanside.

KENNEBUNK 8, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 7: The Rams (6-7) scored eight runs in the sixth inning to rally past Gray-New Gloucester (8-6) at Kennebunk.

Meg Dube of Kennebunk struck out nine.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 3, CAMDEN HILLS 1: Abby Farrin allowed five hits and struck out six as the Eagles (12-1) defeated the Windjammers (6-7) at Rockport.

Dani Pinkham and Logan Low scored in the third inning on Morgan Achorn fielder’s choice and a passed ball. Margaret Skiff’s single in the fourth brought in the other run for Lincoln.

Maddie Bowman was 2 for 3 for Camden Hills and scored.

NOBLE 6, MARSHWOOD 0: Amber Kelly pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Knights (9-4) cruised past the Hawks (4-8) at North Berwick.

Melodie Bailey had a three-run homer in the first inning and added a single. Amber Kelly and Morgan Perillo each hit a single and a double.

POLAND 21, FREEPORT 6: Lindsay Theriault had four hits and Kylie Martin added three hits, including a solo homer, for the Knights (7-7), who scored 12 runs in the seventh inning and beat the Falcons (2-10) at Freeport.

Vanessa Lee and Jill Baker had three hits apiece for Freeport.

SOUTH PORTLAND 12, PORTLAND 0: Stephanie Aceto pitched a three-hitter for the Red Riots (10-3) against Portland (4-9) in a five-inning game at South Portland.

Aceto struck out seven and walked four.

Paige Carter homered in the third inning and finished with four RBI on three hits. Abby Young tripled and drove in two runs with a double. Olivia Indorf and Miranda Gleason also knocked in two runs each.

TRAIP ACADEMY 5, SACOPEE VALLEY 4: Kalie Andrews singled in the winning run in the sixth inning as Traip Academy (4-8) edged Sacopee Valley (4-8) at Kittery.

The Rangers took a 4-2 lead in the fifth on a solo homer by Allie Barrett. The Hawks tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, Lynn Moore bunted to put runners in position for Andrews.

The Hawks put one runner on in the seventh, but Kiara Perez caught a foul ball, then threw to first to double the runner off and end the game.

MCAULEY 4, SANFORD 3: Taylor Whaley pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks, and the Lions (6-7) scored three runs in the first inning before holding off the Spartans (5-8) at Portland.

Ally Tillotson hit a two-run triple in the first inning, then Sam Libby scored on an error in the third to give the Lions a 4-0 lead.

SCARBOROUGH 13, WINDHAM 3: Alyssa Williamson hit two homers and a triple to help the Red Storm (12-0) down Windham (5-8) in five innings at Scarborough.

Williamson hit a three-run homer in the first, a solo shot in the fourth and led off the fifth with her triple. Chloe Gorey was 4 for 4 with two RBI and two runs for Scarborough.

BIDDEFORD 8, OXFORD HILLS 7: Kat Dumoulin scored three goals and Taylor Turgeon added four assists as Biddeford (6-3) defeated Oxford Hills (2-6) at South Paris.
