WESTBROOK — South Portland scored four runs in the fourth inning Tuesday and went on to a 6-3 victory over Westbrook in an error-filled SMAA baseball game at Olmsted Field.

The teams combined for nine runs on just five hits, but 13 errors, nine by the Blue Blazes.

Henry Curran allowed three runs on two hits for the Red Riots (11-2). Keigan Sears, pitching into the seventh, gave up two earned runs on three hits, striking out five for Westbrook (7-6).

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 11, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Dylan Creswell hit a two-run triple and scored during a seven-run first inning for the Seagulls (6-8) against the Panthers (1-10) in a five-inning game at Old Orchard Beach.

Logan Melnik gave up one hit in four innings for the Seagulls.

KENNEBUNK 2, CAPE ELIZABETH 0: Nick Emmons, Eric Aiken and Robbie Burns combined to strike out five in a one-hitter to lift the Rams (9-5) over the Capers (4-9) at Cape Elizabeth.

Emmons pitched the first three innings and Aiken followed with three scoreless innings before Burns closed the game in the seventh.

 

PORTLAND 10, DEERING 1: Nick DiPalma struck out seven in a three-hitter for the visiting Bulldogs (8-5) against the Rams (3-11) at Portland.

Justin Zukowski had a pair of hits and Evan Gallant added a two-run single for Portland.

SCARBOROUGH 4, THORNTON ACADEMY 4: Drew Gelinas had two doubles and a single for the Trojans (6-6-1), and Ben Irish had two singles for the Red Storm (7-5-1) in a game stopped after 12 innings because of rain at Saco.

Gelinas, Matt Rutherford, Ben Lambert and Evan Balzano each knocked in a run for Thornton.

 

MASSABESIC 5, WINDHAM 0: Weston Bergeron scattered seven hits and struck out six as the Mustangs (5-9) shut out the Eagles (6-7) at Waterboro.

Massabesic opened the scoring on Dawson Renaud’s two-run single in the third inning.

BIDDEFORD 9, NOBLE 3: Casey Twomey hit a first-inning home run and added a double as the Tigers (12-2) eased by the Knights (2-11) at North Berwick.

Corey Creeger and Brady Crepeau each added a pair of hits for Biddeford.

SOFTBALL

BIDDEFORD 5, GORHAM 1: Brittany Roy hit a bases-clearing triple to break open a 1-1 game in the fourth inning and lead the Tigers (10-3) past the Rams (7-7) at Gorham.

Erin Martin added a double for Biddeford.

BONNY EAGLE 5, PORTLAND 3: Ashlyn Wintle allowed three runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking one as the Scots (9-4) edged the Bulldogs (4-10) at Standish.

Wintle also had a double and a pair of singles with three RBI.

 

MCAULEY 8, MASSABESIC 7: Samantha Libby had three hits and Taylor Whaley pitched a complete game as the Lions (7-8) edged the Mustangs (3-11) in 13 innings at Waterboro.

Marisa Gochie scored the winning run on a passed ball.

CAPE ELIZABETH 18, KENNEBUNK 6: Hannah Saturley went 3 for 4 and drove in three runs to pace a 13-hit offense for the Capers (13-0), who downed the Rams (6-8) in five innings at Cape Elizabeth.

Ashley Tinsman also had three hits, and Tess Haller and Kate Rabasca added two hits apiece for Cape.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

CAPE ELIZABETH 9, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 3: Ben Shea finished with four goals and two assists for the Capers (10-0), who scored seven unanswered goals in the second half to rally past the Panthers (2-8) at Cape Elizabeth.

DEERING 16, MCAULEY 11: Mony Prak scored five times and Justice Welch added four goals to lead the visiting Rams (3-7) over the Lions (1-8) at Portland.

Allison Tardiff scored four goals, and Kaeli Leddy and Amanda Spink added three apiece for McAuley.

 

MARSHWOOD 13, BIDDEFORD 1: Lindsey Poirier and Hannah Folger combined for six goals and six assists as the Hawks (8-2) cruised by the Tigers (6-4) at South Berwick.

 

MASSABESIC 18, SANFORD 5: Maquila Dimastrantonio scored four goals as the Mustangs (9-1) rolled past the Spartans (3-6) at Sanford.

THORNTON ACADEMY 14, PORTLAND 7: Katie McCrum and Carly McKenna each had four goals as the Golden Trojans (7-3) handled the Bulldogs (3-6) at Saco.

 

WINDHAM 8, SOUTH PORTLAND 6: Luisa Sbardella had four goals and an assist to help the Eagles (5-4) pull away from a halftime tie with the Red Riots (5-5) at Windham.

 

MORSE 11, GARDINER 10: Maddy Olson scored with 2.6 seconds remaining as the Shipbuilders (8-1) edged the Tigers (6-3) at Waterville.
