BIDDEFORD — Taylor Turgeon scored four goals and assisted on another as host Biddeford rolled past Noble 14-3 in an SMAA girls lacrosse game at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford on Thursday.

Shaina Speight netted a hat trick and Britt Farley and Missy Huot each tallied two goals for the Tigers (7-4).

Sierra Parker stopped 13 shots for the Knights (1-9), which got two goals from Marissa Goodrich.

SANFORD 9, DEERING 8

PORTLAND — Sanford rallied from a three-goal halftime deficit to edge Deering 9-8 in an SMAA girls lacrosse game at Memorial Field in Portland on Thursday.

The Spartans (4-6) were led by Courtney Dumont, who tallied four goals. Sarah Titcomb and Elizabeth Helmreich each scored a pair of goals.

THORNTON 9, MARSHWOOD 6

SACO — Carly McKenna scored four goals and dished out two assists as Thornton Academy downed visiting Marshwood 9-6 in an SMAA girls lacrosse game at Hill Stadium in Saco on Thursday.

Hannah Wuerthner scored two goals for the Trojans (8-3), who led 5-3 at halftime.

Softball

THORNTON 16, WINDHAM 1, 6 innings

WINDHAM — Thornton Academy scored 16 runs on 17 hits to run away from host Windham 16-1 in six innings in an SMAA softball game at Windham High School on Thursday.

Morgan Dube and Erin Brayden each had three hits for the Trojans (11-3), while Kaylee Burns and Libby Pomerleau both had two hits and two RBIs.

Bailey Tremblay gave up just three hits and no earned runs over six innings.

Thornton has now won nine games in a row.

WELLS 14, TRAIP 1, 5 innings

WELLS — A nine-run third inning paced host Wells past Traip Academy 14-1 in five innings in a WMC softball game on Thursday.

The Warriors got RBI singles from Maddie Taylor, Lauren Bame, Sophie Lamb and Nodine Webster and an RBI double by Kate Tufts in the third.

Lamb finished with a game-high three hits, while Jordan Agger, Steph Woods and Webster each had two.

Webster pitched a two-hitter on the mound, allowing no earned runs, while striking out six and walking two batters.

The Warriors (12-1) host top-ranked and undefeated Cape Elizabeth today at 4 p.m.

GREELY 7, KENNEBUNK 3

KENNEBUNK — Greely scored six runs in the top of the first inning and held on for a 7-3 victory over host Kennebunk in a WMC softball game Thursday.

Meg Dube collected two hits for the Rams (6-9), who currently own the final playoff spot in Western Class A.

SACOPEE VALLEY 11, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1, 5 inn.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Undefeated Sacopee Valley scored two runs each in the first, second and fourth innings, then broke the game open with a five-run fifth to down host Old Orchard Beach 11-1 in five innings in a WMC baseball game on Thursday.

Kyle Jordan led the Hawks (13-0) with three hits, while Roderick Maynard had two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Maynard earned the win on the mound, as he gave up just one run on two hits, with seven strikeouts against just three walks.

Hunter Bouthot and Dylan Creswell had the lone hits for the Seagulls (6-9), with Creswell scoring the only run.

Girls Tennis

SANFORD 4, BONNY EAGLE 1

SANFORD — Sanford dropped a combined two games in its four victorious matches, as the Spartans downed visiting Bonny Eagle 4-1 in an SMAA girls tennis match and Gowen Park Tennis Courts on Thursday.

Paige Tranchemontagne in No. 3 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Lauren MacPherson and Ciara Negron both won their matches 6-0, 6-0, while Misa Mai in No. 2 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Alley Nichols and Lauren Vachon each dropped just one game in their wins.

The Spartans (8-4) nearly completed the sweep, but Kathryn Doiron fell in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 3-6) in No. 1 singles to Bonny Eagle’s Hilary Kinney.
