BIDDEFORD — Joan E. Couture, 65, of Biddeford, died May 27, 2014 at her home, as the result of a heart condition.

She was born in Biddeford on Dec. 24, 1948, the daughter of Toussaint and Agathe Gagnon Couture.

She was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School with the Class of 1967.

After high school, Joan went to hairdressing school. She worked a few years at Fancy That Beauty Boutique in Biddeford. She later worked a few years with West Point Pepperell and Components Inc., both in Biddeford, and last worked for Aetna, Peerless and Hanover insurance companies, all in Portland.

Joan was a very generous person with many talents. She loved people and enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts and sewing for others. She will be deeply missed.

She volunteered for the Linus Club and did charity work for many organizations.

Surviving are: one son, Adam P. Couture and his girlfriend Cori Sanborn of Buxton; two sisters, Claudette J. Couture and Charlene C. Charland and her husband Richard, all of Biddeford; and one nephew, Eric Charland and his wife Sheri Moreau-Charland of Biddeford.

Visiting hours will be 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.
