Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Deanna Rochefort, daughter of Marc and Stephanie Rochefort of Berwick, has graduated with honors as an instrumentalist from the Music Basic Course at the Naval School of Music in Virginia Beach, Va. Rochefort is a 2013 graduate of Noble High School, Berwick.

Sampson Air Force Base Veterans, Southern Maine squadron, will meet at noon on June 12 at the Chickadee, 1472 Lisbon St., Lewiston. Steve Perry, a former Green Beret and author of “Bright Lights,” will be the speaker. All veterans are welcome to attend. The Rotary Club of South Portland/Cape Elizabeth and Hannaford has provided $1,260 worth of Hannaford gift cards to Veterans Affairs administrators for distribution to aid homeless veterans. The cards prohibit the purchase of alcohol or tobacco products but allow the purchase of food, household goods, toiletries and other necessities. As part of their ongoing efforts, the club also helps provide public transportation passes, donations of household goods and bicycles. It also assists with the annual VA2K walk to raise awareness of the problem. Non-Rotarians may help by giving gas and food gift cards, donations of new household and similar items or cash. Twenty-eight museums and historic sites in Maine, and more than 2,000 across the United States, are offering free admission to military personnel and their families through Labor Day as participants in the Blue Star Museum program in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. The program is available to active duty U.S. military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve, U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps and up to five immediate family members. Eligible members will need to present their current identification cards to receive free admission.
