Alex Logan scored her third goal of the game with one second remaining Wednesday, giving Cheverus a 10-9 victory against Waynflete in a game between two of the best schoolgirl lacrosse teams in the state.

Cheverus (9-3) is ranked No. 1 in Eastern Class A and Waynflete (7-4) is No. 2 in Western Class B.

Elyse Caiazzo and Meredith Willard also scored three goals, and Anne Veroneau had the other goal for Cheverus. Caiazzo finished with three assists.

Cat Johnson scored four goals with two assists, and Ella Millard added three goals and two assists for Waynflete.

MT. ARARAT 13, EDWARD LITTLE 7: Dani Krause scored five goals to lead Mt. Ararat (5-6) over Edward Little (0-11) at Auburn.

Carly Raymond added three goals for the Eagles, and Sierra Gilley and Eva Jerome provided two apiece.

Brooke Levi scored twice for the Red Eddies.

MORSE 14, LINCOLN ACADEMY 2: Sophie Sreden had four goals and two assists as Morse (10-2) defeated Lincoln Academy (2-10) at Bath.

Ruth Nadeau added three goals, and Isabelle Paulus and Paige Daigle scored two each for the Shipbuilders.

FREEPORT 14, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 8: Nine players scored for the Falcons (10-2) against North Yarmouth Academy (4-8) at Freeport.

Meredith Broderick and Lizzy Martin both finished with three goals. Courtney Broderick scored two for Freeport.

Olivia Madore had a game-high four goals for NYA.

CONY 16, OXFORD HILLS 9: Emily Quirion scored seven goals and Bayleigh Logan added four to lead Cony (9-3) over the Vikings (2-10) at Augusta.

Haley Quirion added two goals and six assists, and Becca Coniff had a pair of goals for the Rams.

Izzy Eames and Lizzy Dennison combined for 10 saves for Cony. Samantha Bickford had 13 for Oxford Hills.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

WESTBROOK 22, DEERING 5: Tyler Jack, Stan Carroll and Curtis Knapton led the offense as Westbrook (6-6) downed Deering (3-9) at Portland.

The Blue Blazes took a 4-0 lead in the first two minutes and led 12-3 by halftime.

SOFTBALL

CHEVERUS 12, MASSABESIC 0: Olivia Mull went 3 for 4, scored twice and drove in two runs as Cheverus (13-3) shut out Massabesic (4-12) in five innings at Portland.

The Stags scored three runs in the first, then nine in the second.

Brittany Bell of Cheverus gave up one hit and no walks, striking out 10. She also homered.

BASEBALL

NOBLE 11, CHEVERUS 1: Corey Hamilton drove in three runs to help Noble (4-12) down Cheverus (8-8) in five innings at North Berwick.

The Knights scored eight runs in the first inning, including Grayson Waterman’s two-run single.

Noble made it 11-0 in the fourth when Joe Hashem hit a leadoff single and eventually scored on a grounder by Hamilton. The Stags could manage only one run in the fifth, ending the game.
