SOUTH PORTLAND — Abby Murrell drove in three runs as Scarborough finished an unbeaten regular season with a 6-4 win over South Portland in an SMAA softball game Friday.

Murrell doubled home two runs in the first inning as the Red Storm (16-0) grabbed a 3-0 lead.

Winning pitcher Alyssa Williamson scored two runs.

The Red Riots (12-4) were led by Abby Young, who went 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Scarborough is the No. 1 seed for both the Western Class A tournament that starts next week and the SMAA playoffs Saturday in Scarborough.

The Red Storm face No. 3 Cheverus in the SMAA semifinals at 10 a.m., while No. 4 South Portland takes on No. 2 Thornton Academy. The final is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

YARMOUTH 4, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2: Bill Jacobs scored two goals for the Clippers (7-5) in a win over the Panthers (2-10) at Yarmouth.

Andrew Beatty and Kyle Thomas added a goal apiece for Yarmouth, which led 3-1 at halftime.

Wes Bright scored both goals for NYA, and D.J. Nicholas made eight stops.

Yarmouth’s Cameron Kennedy had three saves.

BASEBALL

SMAA PLAYOFFS: South Portland, Biddeford, Marshwood and Scarborough have qualified for Saturday’s SMAA playoffs at St. Louis Field in Biddeford.

No. 1 seed South Portland will play No. 4 Scarborough at 10 a.m., followed by the second semifinal between No. 2 Biddeford and No. 3 Marshwood. The winners will meet in the championship game later in the afternoon.
