SACO — Simone M. Loranger, 94, of Portland and formerly of Saco, passed away at home on June 3, 2014, with her son, David, by her side.

She was born on May 6, 1920 in Sherbrooke, Canada, a daughter of Louis and Roseanna (Labrecque) Dubuque.

She was educated in the Biddeford schools.

She was employed as a stitcher at Lunder Shoe for more than 20 years, retiring in 1986.

Simone will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She liked to cook and do crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Loranger was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco.

She was preceded in death by: six sisters, Geraldine, Therese, Claudine, Fernande, Lucille and Lorraine.

She is survived by: her husband, Alfred “Fred” Loranger; three sons, Gerard Loranger and his wife Jane of Saco, David Loranger and his wife Janet Kantz of Portland, and Guy Loranger and his wife Shirley of Dracut, Mass.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
