A New Gloucester man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his mother’s boyfriend with a sword Friday night.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s office said the unidentified victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment after the incident. His head wound was described as not life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office said deputies were sent to 31 Rowe Station Road in New Gloucester around 10 p.m. Saturday after a woman reported the alleged assault on her 45-year-old live-in boyfriend by her son.

Deputies described the weapon as a medieval sword, nearly three feet long.

When deputies arrived, the son, identified as Karamon Davis, 21, had fled, but he was found a few hours later in nearby woods by deputies, assisted by a tracking dog.

Davis was charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief and was being held at the Cumberland County Jail Saturday. Bail was set at $1,000 cash.
