NASHUA, N.H. — Nashua police say a woman who was being assaulted sent texts to friends and family to summon help.

The 22-year-old woman told police that Johnathan Gerald threatened to pour hot oil on her and stab her with scissors after he got upset on Thursday over not being able to buy cigarettes.

She told police the 30-year-old Gerald grabbed her by the throat and forced her into the bathroom where he held her down in the bathtub and choked her until she vomited and passed out.

At some point, the victim got her cellphone and texted friends and family, pleading for police to come and break down the door.

Gerald was charge with offenses, including felony assault. He’s being held on $10,000 bail.
