Why won’t all the candidates for governor agree to debates over the next several months? The only one so far willing to do so has been Eliot Cutler.
In the 2010 election for governor, the party candidates spent as much time avoiding the debate podium as standing behind it. What is their concern with allowing the citizens of Maine to hear a healthy exchange of ideas on subjects so important to us all?
In today’s contentious political environment, politicians try to tell us what we should think. Gov. LePage and Rep. Mike Michaud should allow us to hear them speak directly on the issues.
Let us consider their words and vote on the merits of their positions. I, for one, do not appreciate being spoon-fed by third parties or media spokespeople – I want to hear it directly from the candidates. Allow us true freedom of choice.
