PORTLAND — After 15 years at two municipal posts, Director of Health and Human Services Doug Gardner will be leaving city government on June 27.

In a press release Monday, City Manager Mark Rees said Gardner will become vice president of operations for Lewiston-based North Country Associates, a long-term care company.

Before heading the Health and Human Services Department for nine years, Gardner was long-term care administrator at the Barron Center. Julie Sullivan, current director of the department’s Public Health Division, was named acting HHS director while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.
